It's official...
we are the newest members of First Baptist Church Opelika! After almost four years of attending, we finally "walked the aisle" last Sunday. This is a decision that we didn't take lightly, and we wanted to make sure we found the perfect church for us before we joined. We have almost been married 9 years (in a few weeks) and during that time, we have attended a Presbyterian (in Memphis), a Methodist (in Montgomery)and a Baptist church (now). It has never really mattered to us what the "name" of the church was, just that we went together as a family and enjoyed worshipping there. I am so proud of Will for being the leader of our home and setting the stage for our children to grow up in a church with opportunities for them to learn about Christ in Sunday School and Missions.
Can I share with you a "God Moment" that happened to me on Sunday??? These don't happen to me everyday, but when they do they simply take my breath away. As we were sitting in church watching the choir sing, I noticed a man in the choir that I have never noticed before. He was singing and smiling and praising God! The man reminded me so much of Dr. Phillip Wise (the pastor who married Will and I almost 9 years ago), who recently lost his battle with cancer. As I watched him sing, I thought back to our pre-marital counseling sessions that we had with Dr. Wise. The one thing that he emphasized to us was to "find a church home that has people that you love and call friends." He said that was more important than if a church had your "style" of preacher or music. He said that those friends will make you want to come to church and hold you accountable, and they will last much longer than the preacher or music will at any church. He was so right! Although I do love our preacher and worship music too!!! Many of our dear friends were sitting in that service with us on Sunday, and it all seemed come full circle for me. This was exactly where Dr. Wise was talking about and God had led us to this place. As I watched this man continue to sing, I just couldn't help but think of Dr. Wise singing and praising in heaven. And if he could look down and see us Sunday, I know that he would be so proud of us for being patient and waiting for God to lead us the the place he had planned for us so many years ago.

Guess who came to visit us today...

Kat, Daddy Ben and Papa. What a treat to see them! We didn't even know they were coming until they called to tell us they were on their way. They brought lots of goodies, including a bridge that Daddy Ben and Papa made for our backyard. William absolutely loves it and walked across it ALL day. Kat also brought Ava some cool sunglasses and a cute hot pink ribbon dress that she bought at the beach. We wish you all could have stayed longer. Please come back and visit soon!

Lake Living
We spent last weekend at the Barron's lake house with All of my family!!! We always have so much fun when we get together. My parents treated us to yummy grilled steaks on Friday night and then we took the boat (with Captain William driving) to Sinclair's on Saturday night for delicious seafood. We skied and tubed, and I forgot how sore those things make you. Here are a few pictures from our fun weekend...
